What it is like to attend
Children arrive happily and settle quickly at this very welcoming and friendly preschool. Staff are extremely warm and engaging with the children and get to know them well. Children are confident and independent, showing high levels of selfesteem.
There is a challenging and ambitious curriculum that successfully excites children and supports them to make the best possible progress in their learning and development. Staff focus particularly well on children's communication and language. This prepares them well for their future learning, including moving on to school. For example, children use different utensils to mix and pour flour. Staff encourage the children to use descriptive words to describe what they feel when they run the flour through their fingers. They introduce new words, such as
'sprinkle', demonstrating what this word means. This increases children's knowledge and understanding.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:

- Is £5.20 an hour still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
