Worth knowing. We have funded places available for eligible children, subject to availability. Government funding can be split between settings, at Dalesplay we do collect children from Hawes Primary school to continue their funding with us.

What it is like to attend
Children thrive in this nurturing and well-resourced nursery. Their can-do attitude to their own learning is driven by their determination to succeed. Children relish the freedom which they have to explore the outdoor environment. For example, older children decide to build an obstacle course. They work together to decide what resources they need and where these resources will be placed. Children share ideas, and they redesign and extend the obstacle course as their play develops.
Babies delight in the opportunities which staff provide to develop and challenge their physical skills. For example, babies who have recently started to walk practise moving across different levels and surfaces of the outdoor area. They learn to balance as they negotiate inclines and to manoeuvre themselves around resources and other children. Babies' faces glow with joy as they climb small steps to reach the top of the slide. They relish the very genuine praise offered by staff for their achievements.
Older children eagerly show their understanding of the natural world. Children talk enthusiastically about the radishes and strawberries that they are growing. They know their plants need water. Children comment that the rain will give the plants a

What to ask them
Some of this is above, from the setting or from parents, and it can go out of date. The rest is in no dataset anywhere. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
