Funded hours
Free for 2: 2 year old children may be able to take up to 15 hours of free childcare providing families meet the eligibility criteria. 15 hours free childcare: Some 2 year old children may also be eligible for up to 30 hours of free childcare for 38 weeks of the year if working parents meet the eligibility criteria. All 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare or early.
Worth knowing. This funding can be used at Kaleidoscope Childcare during the pre-school hours of 8am to 5.20pm, provided that there are sessions available. Unfortunately, due to the increases in costs we are asking for a voluntary £1.50 a day consumable charge. This contributes to the cost food, paper towels, hand soap, wipes and sun cream. Extra activities such as visits, gardening, cooking and special events. Additional high-quality resources such as sensory equipment, woodwork tools, baking supplies, or spe.

What to ask them

- Is £6.50 an hour still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
