What it is like to attend
Children arrive happy and keen to enter this nurturing and engaging pre-school.
They are greeted warmly by staff and readily complete their morning tasks. For instance, they enthusiastically find their pegs and hang up their belongings, separating from parents with ease. The recently reviewed curriculum is ambitious for all. Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities
(SEND), make good progress. Staff support children with visual aids, such as timetables and emotion cards, and teach them how to use ways to use signing to communicate. Children clearly benefit from being able to converse in a variety of ways with staff and their peers.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- develop staff practice to focus more precisely on children's next steps in learning to fully support children's learning.

- Is £5.00 a session still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
