What it is like to attend
Staff create a supportive yet vibrant environment where children and their parents feel welcome. Children's personal, social and emotional development is promoted effectively. Staff understand children's behaviour and what it is telling them.
Children behave well and play cooperatively together. They often invite their friends and staff into their play. Staff are proactive in helping children to develop friendship groups and to work as a team. Children take turns and share with the minimum of adult support. They show that they feel happy, safe and secure with each other and the adults.
Children are fully engaged in the learning opportunities throughout the day. They busy themselves as they confidently lead their own role play or construction work.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- be even more specific about any advanced vocabulary that most-able children could be learning, so this can be more easily shared with staff and parents for consistent support n acknowledge children's successes even more, for example, by supporting children and adults to celebrate what children have learned, practised or discovered on a more regular basis n continue to revise group sessions so that learning can be more focused.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
