Funded hours
Universal Funded Early Years Education is available for all children in the terms following their third birthday to a maximum of 15 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. If you are a working parent you may be entitled to 30 hours funding from the term following their second birthday. Some funded early years education is available for 2 year olds for parents receiving additional forms of support.
Worth knowing. Parents/carers will be invoiced for the extra hours not covered by the funded hours. All funded children will be asked for a contribution of £1 for each funded hour.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
