Funded hours
15 or 30 hours per week, usually during term time only. Government funding is available to eligible working parents from the term after their child turns 9 months old.
Worth knowing. Funded sessions can be combined with wraparound care if you need longer days. Consumable charges apply at £3.50 per funded session. Ad hoc sessions are subject to availability and will be charged at a higher rate from 1st April 2026. We require at least 24 hours notice for ad hoc requests.

What it is like to attend
Staff naturally create a warm, friendly and home-from-home environment for children and their families. Children build strong relationships with their key person and go to them for reassurance and help. Babies and toddlers explore the room independently. Older children confidently leave their parents, rush in and say 'hello'
to staff when they arrive. This shows that children are happy, relaxed and feel safe and secure. Children are learning to play and interact with others and are developing good social skills. Staff teach children how to share and take turns through simple turn-taking games. Children show their enjoyment for these games.
Younger children excitedly shout, 'Yes! I love this game', when staff ask if they want to play a fishing game. This supports children's personal, social and emotional development.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- make the most of all opportunities to excite and engage children in activities so that children develop their involvement and attention to fully extend their learning n support staff to fully understand how to support children's early language and communication to help children become confident communicators.

What to ask them
Some of this is above, from the setting or from parents, and it can go out of date. The rest is in no dataset anywhere. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
