Funded hours
Government funding is available for all three and four year old children and starts from the term after their 3rd birthday. This covers the cost of up to a maximum of 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year. In some circumstances, your child can be eligible for 30 hours of childcare per week if parents are working. Some two year olds are also eligible for funding, the amount will depend on indi.

What it is like to attend
Children settle in at the pre-school quickly. If they struggle, the kind staff provide reassurance. Staff use a range of strategies to help children to become engaged and feel comfortable in their surroundings. They use the information they gather from parents when children start, to provide a range of interesting and exciting activities that children swiftly choose from and join in with as they arrive.
Staff support children to build on their existing language and communication skills.
They introduce new vocabulary to children at appropriate times. For instance, staff speak to children about what they are eating, using new descriptive language to help children describe their fruit. Staff hold discussions with children as they play about what they are doing, and this builds on children's existing learning successfully.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:

- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
