What it is like to attend
Children arrive happily and kind, caring staff greet them. Children are polite and behave well. The curriculum focus on building mutual respect and kindness runs through the nursery. For example, children learn that their voice matters. The children's 'pre-school council' share their ideas about things they like to do at the nursery and things they would like to change. As a result of children's suggestions, staff have improved the polytunnel area outside. Older children play cooperatively.
For example, they fill bowls from the tap outside to make a 'shower' for a dinosaur.
Babies learn to take turns as they climb the stairs in the soft-play area, which helps to build their social skills.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- support staff to engage with children in a way that promotes children's deeper thinking and helps them learn how to solve problems for themselves n extend communication with parents further to include ways that they can support their children's learning at home.

- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
