What it is like to attend
Staff nurture children in this warm and caring environment. They place a strong emphasis on fostering children's independence, confidence and resilience. Staff build strong connections with their key children. This ensures that children feel safe and secure. Children seek out reassurance from familiar adults and cuddle up to their key person. Staff are knowledgeable and give children the practical and emotional support that they need. Staff gather detailed information about each child and invite parents and carers into the setting. This helps families to form secure attachments with their children's key persons.
Staff consider children's interests and preferences. They plan engaging experiences that build on what they know and can do. For example, staff encourage children to make marks with the paint, which nurtures their creativity and self-expression.
Staff follow children's interests and encourage them to explore different animals and the sounds that they make. Children enjoy participating in circle time, as they sing songs and find out what is in a box. Staff plan these activities to build children's social and language skills. Staff understand children's needs. They plan appropriate activities to support their development and act on any concerns swiftly.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- support staff to engage children more effectively in conversations and extend their communication and language skills further n develop the curriculum for personal, social and emotional development to provide more opportunities for children to learn to interact with peers.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
