Worth knowing. 2-year-old funded places are term time only; 30 hour spaces are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis; for 3-4 year olds the 30 hours are offered term time only and priority is given to children already accessing Chatham Nursery School provision; parents/carers must submit their child's code to the Admin officer at reception and renew it termly.

What it is like to attend
Children are happy and safe in this diverse and inclusive nursery. They form strong bonds with the kind and nurturing staff team and benefit from sensitive interactions. They confidently seek out staff for comfort, when necessary. This demonstrates that children feel secure and their emotional well-being is promoted.
Staff have high expectations and teach children about the importance of following instructions. Children respond positively to the 'tidy up' song and demonstrate that they know what this means. They learn to share, take turns and play cooperatively alongside their friends. Children's behaviour is very good.
The nursery has high numbers of children who speak English as an additional language and children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- refine the learning intentions for circle times to help children learn new skills in the correct order n strengthen the two-way flow of information with parents and keep them updated about how to support children's individual next steps at home n focus supervision more sharply on improving staff's individual knowledge and skills further.

What to ask them

- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
