What it is like to attend
Leaders and staff provide a friendly and welcoming environment for the children.
As a result, children are confident and relaxed in the nursery. Babies smile and gurgle happily as they play with cereal in a tray. They run the cereal through their hands and squeeze it into balls. This helps to develop their physical skills. As a member of staff starts to sing a familiar song, the babies all stop what they are doing and turn in delight to listen. They laugh and clap their hands, enjoying the song and the sound of the familiar voice. This reflects the highly positive and nurturing relationships between staff and children.
Children play happily with their friends in the large outdoor spaces. They use funnels, spray bottles and pipes cooperatively in the water tray, politely saying, 'I'll get some water for you,' to their friend. Children concentrate hard as they connect the pipes together and pour the water down them. Staff are encouraging and full of praise for the children's efforts, who are delighted when the water flows all the way down the pipe. This supports the development of their fine motor skills and problem-solving well.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- increase staff confidence in how to identify more precisely what they want children to learn from an activity, so that the teaching matches the intention n extend the support provided to staff to enhance their understanding of the very best ways to implement the curriculum for communication and language.

- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
