Funded hours
Free early years education is available for eligible 2-year-olds and all 3- and 4-year-olds. Government funding allows us to provide between 15 and 30 hours a week of free childcare for eligible 2-year-olds from the term after their second birthday and all 3- and 4-year-olds from the term after their third birthday.
Worth knowing. The 15 hours can be taken in any combination of hours, over a minimum of 2 days a week, subject to reasonable demand. The free entitlement is equal to 15 hours a week over a minimum of 38 weeks.

What it is like to attend
Staff build good relationships with children and know their likes and dislikes.
Children are happy in the setting and engaged in their play. Staff have high expectations of children and support them to make good progress in several areas of learning. Staff create opportunities for children to explore and investigate. For example, children work out how to use sponges and water to clean paint from toy cars. Staff talk about the water looking like a swamp. This supports children to test out their own ideas and to demonstrate curiosity.
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are given good support.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen coaching and mentoring practices to further improve the quality of teaching to consistently implement the planned curriculum.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
