Funded hours
ALL children qualify for the Government Nursery Education Grant (NEG) funding. This provides up to 15 hours per week FREE funded childcare from the term AFTER their 3rd birthday. Up to 30 hours funding is available to eligible working families. Some working families of children over 9 months are also eligible for 30 hours of funding per week. Early Years funding for 2 year olds.
Worth knowing. Your remining funded hours can be used towards these or they are charged at an additional rate of £10 per hour (£2.50 per 15 minutes). The bill will include a small donation of £8.00 towards the termly snack cost (there are no other consumable charges).

What it is like to attend
Children arrive at pre-school with excitement and are greeted by warm, caring and dedicated staff. Children are exceptionally well behaved. They share and take turns extremely well. Children have very high levels of self-esteem. They are proud of their achievements and of those of their friends. Children throw their hands in their air and say, 'You did it!,' when other children successfully balance toy cars on top of each other, for example. Staff celebrate children's successes. For example, children make up stories, which staff write down and share with other children.
Children beam with pride as they are applauded at the end. This inspires other children to ask if they can 'write' their own stories and nurtures their imagination.
Children use language exceptionally well. They describe a tree as a 'twisty tree' and talk to staff about the 'stillness' as they listen quietly in the forest school. They spend plenty of time outside and are very physically active. Children learn to manage risks for themselves. For example, they make their own obstacle courses.

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
