What it is like to attend
Children thoroughly enjoy their time at this home-from-home setting. Staff show genuine care over children's welfare and take time to listen to their views, news and ideas. This helps children to feel that their contributions are valued. Staff working with babies are warm and nurturing. Babies demonstrate that they feel safe and secure as they hold out their arms for cuddles and drift off to sleep while being gently soothed by staff.
Staff skilfully incorporate early mathematics into engaging activities. For example, pre-school children sit together in the garden and wait eagerly for their turn to pick a toy animal from staff's 'special' box. Once children make their selections, staff introduce positional language and give children instructions to follow. Children have fun as they follow staff's directions and place a toy fish 'in' the water, a pig 'under'
a chair, and a triceratops going 'down' the water slide. This prepares children well for their next stage in learning.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen partnerships with other settings that children attend, providing children with a joined-up approach to help maximise their learning opportunities across all environments n provide babies with consistently high-quality interactions that enable them to make connections between language and meaning.

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
