Funded hours
Working parents of children/babies over 9 months may be eligible for up to 30 hours a week early years childcare entitlement for 38 weeks of the year. ALL children aged 3 & 4 are entitled to a minimum of 15 hours free Government Funding for 38 weeks of the year. Some children aged 2 years are entitled to 15 hours additional support funding.
Worth knowing. Wrap-around: funded hours stretched over the year (average 11hrs/week for 15hrs, 22hrs/week for 30hrs); no additional charge for meals or consumables on wrap-around days. TTO: meals and snacks charged at £3 per half day or £6 per full day for 30hr funded sessions; meal charges waived if parents provide packed lunches (must be arranged at start of term); if regular TTO sessions are booked, meal charges on funded days are waived.

What it is like to attend
Children arrive eager and happy to begin their day. They are greeted by warm and friendly staff who know them well. Children are very happy, settled and secure.
Young babies and toddlers smile and wave at visitors, and older children are keen to share their toys and describe what they like to do at the nursery. Children are becoming skilful communicators. They show a positive attitude to learning and are confident and motivated to explore and investigate the stimulating experiences offered to them.
Staff implement a broad curriculum that is progressive. Carefully considered activities build on what children already know and can do. For example, the development of children's independence skills is a key focus. Young children learn how to feed themselves with a plastic spoon while older children progress to using metal cutlery competently.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- help staff to recognise when to adapt or change activities so that children remain focused and absorbed in their learning n implement plans to make better use of outdoor areas to offer children further play and learning opportunities, particularly for children who prefer to be outside.

- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
