What it is like to attend
Children are warmly welcomed by staff when they arrive at the nursery. They are excited to see their friends. Staff know each child and their family well. They create a calm, home-like atmosphere where children feel safe and secure. Staff recognise how important strong relationships are for children's learning and development.
Children invite staff to play alongside them. In the outdoor area, toddlers wear firefighter costumes. They run around and pretend to put out fires. Staff join in, running with the children. They extend play by suggesting finding a water hose to put out the pretend fire, supporting children in developing their creative and physical skills.
Staff have developed a good curriculum that prepares children for the next stage of learning. In the baby room, staff talk clearly and introduce new words to help babies build their communication skills. Staff support pre-school children to be ready for moving to primary school. For example, new teachers visit the nursery to meet the children, helping children to feel more confident about their upcoming change. Children are curious learners who show good levels of concentration. Staff support children in developing their own ideas. Pre-school children build their creative skills as they use glue to stick coloured tissue onto paper. They strengthen their hands by using pens to create colourful marks and express themselves.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
