What it is like to attend
Children are happy within the nursery. Caring and attentive staff know children very well. There is an effective key-person system that ensures children's individual needs are met. Additionally, staff are receptive to babies' needs. For example, staff intuitively know when babies may be tired or need a bottle. Babies snuggle into staff for their milk. Settling-in visits are well planned in partnership with parents.
These are planned around individual children. Staff recognise some children may take longer to settle than others.
Staff have high expectations for children's behaviour. Any incidents are dealt with calmly and in line with nursery policies. Staff support children to understand how they are feeling and there is a strong focus on supporting children's well-being. As a result, children develop high levels of respect for each other. For example, toddlers apologise to each when they accidentally bump in to one another.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen the mathematical language used and provide further opportunities for children to engage in discussion around shape, size and measure n refine the day-to-day transitions around nursery to ensure these are smooth and reduce any unnecessary waiting time.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
