What it is like to attend
Children happily arrive at the setting and separate from their carers with ease.
They become fully engrossed in the activities on offer. Children form secure attachments with staff, who are kind and welcoming. This helps them to feel safe and confident to explore their surroundings and enjoy their learning.
Children receive a range of healthy snacks and drinks to choose from. This helps to support children's physical health effectively. Children demonstrate that they understand the snack time routine. For example, they independently find their name card and place it on the table before washing their hands. They clear their cup and bowl away when they have finished. Overall, children behave well and generally receive good support to help them understand the expected behaviours.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen staff's understanding of how to support language development for children who speak English as an additional language, to help children make more progress in their home language as well as English - support staff to provide a more consistent approach when managing children's behaviour, to help children develop further skills to regulate their own behaviour.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
