What it is like to attend
Children have adapted well to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) safety practices. For example, parents now leave children with staff at the entrance rather than going into the rooms. Children and babies arrive happily, and they show that they feel safe and secure. Babies form close emotional attachments to their key person.
They enjoy cuddles and reassurance, which successfully boosts their self-esteem.
Older children make friends, and they enjoy their play with each other. They are confident to approach visitors to the setting and are keen to invite them to share in their experiences.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- focus support and coaching for staff on helping them to fully understand how to sequence the curriculum n seek opportunities for staff to follow the identified approaches in helping younger children to respond and to develop their speech more rapidly.

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
