Funded hours
Universal 15 funded hours for 3- and 4-year-olds during term time; some families of 2-year-olds may be entitled to Early Education funding; 30 funded hours or up to 30 hours a week, stretchable over 44 weeks a year.

No top-up fees, registration fees or consumables charged; extra hours above the government funded are £6.00 per hour; minimum 2 hours attendance per day between 8.00am and 3.00pm term time; 4 weeks' notice must be given when leaving the setting, funding will be claimed for this period whether the child attends or not.

What to ask them

- Is £6.00 an hour still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
