Worth knowing. Government funding is provided for 38 weeks of the year (term time only). As Little Dots is open all year round, we can stretch your child’s funded hours over 50 or 51 weeks. Children attending funded sessions of up to four hours can enjoy meals and snacks at no additional cost. For children attending longer funded sessions, we ask for a contribution of just £3.50 per day.

What it is like to attend
Children are happy and confident and feel safe in this clean, well-maintained nursery. Staff know the children well and use information gathered from parents during conversations to support their individual needs. Staff provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child and family feel respected and valued.
As a result, children benefit significantly from the care, attention and support provided, which contributes positively to their overall development and well-being.
Staff understand how children learn and deliver a balanced curriculum tailored to their interests and needs. Key staff have a secure understanding of the next steps in children's learning and embed these effectively into planned activities. Younger children show confidence as they explore their environment, successfully managing obstacles and developing spatial awareness. Older children show increasing confidence in managing risks safely, particularly during forest school sessions, where they engage in challenging activities such as log cutting and learning about fire safety.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- enhance the monitoring and evaluation of staff practice even further to identify any inconsistencies and elevate the already high standards even further.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
