All children who attend Little Jungle, and who are eligible, will receive funding provided by Southwark.
Worth knowing. We have a limited number spaces allocated throughout the year for fully funded children which are completely free of charge, and with no conditions to purchase additional hours.

What it is like to attend
Children are encouraged to use the opportunities presented by the nursery to follow their interests and thoroughly explore the excellently resourced learning environment. Staff give exceptional thought to the education programmes they plan and have high expectations of what children can achieve. Children develop impressive levels of concentration, creativity and language skills while exploring and modelling with clay. They use their wonderful imaginations to compose objects and artworks and express their joy and pride with gestures and strong early language skills.
Children display high levels of confidence, self-esteem and personal independence.
They play an active role in the day-to-day running of the setting. Children wait with anticipation for staff to announce the names of the day's 'helpers'. They beam with pride when it is their turn. Children are guided by a nurturing and empathetic staff team, who know children extremely well. Staff use their wealth of experience to identify gaps in children's development. They address these gaps by implementing highly effective interventions. Children are empowered to take control of their learning with skilled guidance from staff. Children have excellent manners, and they play cooperatively in the stimulating learning environments that staff provide.

What to ask them
Some of this is above, from the setting or from parents, and it can go out of date. The rest is in no dataset anywhere. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
