What it is like to attend
Children arrive happy and full of enthusiasm for their day in this inviting and inclusive setting. They confidently part from their parents as they are welcomed by friendly staff who provide an environment that captivates and motivates them. For example, children demonstrate good levels of engagement in activities such as, throwing balls at targets, constructing towers with blocks, and investigating various sensory and craft materials. They show they feel safe and secure, actively seeking assistance from staff when they require comfort, reassurance, or support. Children are proud when staff praise their good behaviour and acts of kindness towards others.
Staff provide children with an exciting and ambitious curriculum. They have a secure understanding of child development and recognise the skills they need to prioritise to help children prepare for their transition to school. For instance, the current focus is on personal, social and emotional development and communication and language skills. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities
(SEND) are well supported. There is a collaborative approach from parents, staff and outside agencies to ensure all children are making at least good levels of progress.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- support staff to have a clear understanding of the behaviour management strategies in place so that they are consistently implemented across the whole setting.

What to ask them
None of this is in any national dataset and this setting has not published it, which is exactly why it is worth asking.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
