What it is like to attend
Children are happy and form positive relationships with staff. Children enter the nursery and are greeted by enthusiastic and caring staff. Children confidently say goodbye to their parents and are eager to start playing. Children feel comfortable to approach staff for cuddles when they are feeling unsure or upset. Staff gather information from parents when children first start. This helps staff get to know children, including what they like and dislike. Settling-in sessions are planned with parents to ensure they meet the needs of individual children and families.
Children's behaviour is supported consistently well. For example, staff use clear signs to stop any unwanted behaviour. The nursery celebrates children's achievements in a range of ways. These are displayed and shared with parents through an 'achievement tree' and 'proud clouds'. Children are praised for good teamwork and for helping to tidy away toys.
Staff model a range of language and ask questions as they become involved in children's imaginative play. For example, staff enquire about how they might feel if they are poorly. As a result, children are becoming confident communicators. They confidently talk to the inspector about their lunch and how old they are.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- refine lunchtime routines, particularly within the pre-school room, to support and develop children's independence skills and to maximise opportunities for discussion n establish procedures to observe staff practice in order to identify and provide appropriately tailored professional development opportunities aimed at improving the quality of education even further.

- Is £62.00 a day still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
