What it is like to attend
Staff are eager to welcome the excited children into the setting. Children happily leave their parents and join in with the vast range of activities on offer. For example, children play alongside their friends in the home corner, manipulating play dough and doing puzzles. The staff know the children extremely well and cater to their needs. The key-person approach is strong, and they have designated group times each day. This allows for staff to work on developing their key children's skills and understanding, such as promoting good oral health. Children relish these opportunities in this safe environment.
Children are confident and have good independence skills. Staff set up the environment to allow children to make independent choices in their learning. For example, children confidently access their own resources to support their play.
They independently use the toilets and wash their hands. Staff encourage children to take turns and share. For example, children want to play on the trampoline, so the staff use a sand timer to ensure children fairly get a turn. Children respond to this well, and when the timer finishes, they come off the equipment to allow for their friend to have a go. Children have good personal and social skills.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
