What it is like to attend
Staff place children and their families at the heart of their work at this welcoming nursery. Children are confident and settle well. They are eager to play with their friends. Children form strong relationships with their key person and the other staff working in the nursery. Staff support children's transitions through the nursery and beyond well. The processes in place when children move rooms are flexible and meet their specific needs. This helps them to feel safe and secure.
The curriculum is interesting and varied. Staff are skilled at adapting their interactions to meet the individual needs of children. For example, during number play, staff encourage younger children to recognise numbers and older children to recite numbers. Children's physical skills are supported well as staff encourage children to safely climb, balance and ride on play equipment.
Children are eager and enthusiastic to learn more. They show curiosity and inquisitiveness in their play. Staff use effective questioning to encourage children to think critically and to probe for answers that make sense to them. Staff model expected behaviour, supporting children to play cooperatively and be kind to one another. As a result, children treat each other with respect.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:

What to ask them

- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.

- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
