Funded hours
2 Year Old Funding - Some children are eligible for 2 year old funding. 3 and 4 year old funding: All children are entitled to 15 hours per week for 38 weeks a year of free nursery care the term after they turn 3 years old. Some children may get 30 hours free childcare.
Worth knowing. Government Funded session - £1.80 per hour to cover consumables (charged whether session is attended or not). A charge is made for meals. Parents Unable or Unwilling to pay consumables charge: limited number of spaces each term on a Monday and Friday afternoon where consumables charge is optional, but parents must provide all snacks and drinks, lunch boxes not stored in temperature controlled places, food will not be heated or prepared, no access to digital 'learning journeys', children will not.

What it is like to attend
Children enter the nursery happily. They separate quickly from their parents and join the other children. Children sit together for the welcome session and confidently join in with singing the 'hello' song. They enjoy spending time with their friends and smile and laugh together while they play. Children work together and offer support as they choose to paint. They stand next to their friends and watch them as they use brushes to paint, pointing to the parts of the paper where they need to paint next. All children develop positive attitudes to learning and remain engaged for prolonged periods of time at self-chosen activities. For example, younger children concentrate as they explore small plastic animals in a tray. They listen as staff name each animal and introduce the different sounds they make.
Children develop secure relationships with staff that help them to feel safe and confident to explore the environment. They seek staff reassurance and enjoy a cuddle when needed. Children gain a sense of self, as staff ask them for their ideas and encourage them to share their likes and dislikes. For example, as children play imaginatively in the pretend kitchen, they are encouraged to discuss foods they enjoy. Children express their preference for marmalade and jam in their sandwiches.

- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
