Government funding typically covers 38 weeks per year, but you can choose to stretch your hours over 51 weeks to receive a reduced number of funded hours each week for year-round childcare. Additional hours beyond your entitlement will be charged at our standard daily rate. Consumables charges apply for each session. Early bird sessions (7:45am–8:00am) are available at an additional cost.

What it is like to attend
Children are happy and settled at the nursery. Caring and enthusiastic staff welcome them at the start of each session. Older children excitedly find their picture to self-register and place it on their peg before independently taking off and hanging up their coats. Children are pleased to see their friends on arrival. They eagerly join in with the activities that staff set out to engage them in learning.
Staff support children expertly as they play. They extend children's learning, following their interests. For example, when some children show an interest in transport, staff set out furniture to replicate a bus. Children enjoy using their imaginations as they discuss their destination and enjoy singing 'The Wheels on the
Bus'. This extends their communication and language. Staff talk to children about what they are doing. Children develop their language skills. For example, staff introduce new vocabulary, such as 'molten lava' and 'eruption', when children excitedly carry out an experiment and watch the volcano that they have built erupt.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:

What to ask them
Some of this is above, from the setting or from parents, and it can go out of date. The rest is in no dataset anywhere. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
