What it is like to attend
Children arrive at the nursery happy and settled, with warm smiles from familiar staff helping to create a welcoming environment. Children are eager to come into the nursery and confidently explore their surroundings. The key-person system is now well established, and staff know children and their families well. Children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure.
Leaders and staff implement a broad and balanced curriculum based on the children's individual needs and backgrounds. Staff support children to gain confidence and independence as they encourage 'helper' roles during routines.
Children also learn about the wider community and the people who help us. Staff invite visitors from a variety of professions to the nursery. For example, the fire brigade came to the nursery to teach children about fire safety and their role.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- build on opportunities for vigorous, challenging and risky play to consistently support children's gross motor skills even further n strengthen the planning of activities to ensure older children are consistently engaged and challenged.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
