What it is like to attend
Children thrive in this nurturing, welcoming and outstanding nursery. They enthusiastically enter the nursery with smiles and confidence, separating from their parents with ease, and are eager to join in with the stimulating and exciting activities on offer. Children have formed exceptionally strong, secure and trusting relationships with staff. Children engage in warm, high-quality interactions that make them feel safe and secure and promote their emotional well-being.
Children thrive in the vast outdoor areas. They develop exceptional physical skills and impressive hand-eye coordination as they navigate their natural surroundings with growing expertise. They develop superb independence and great confidence, as they expertly climb trees and skilfully balance across a rope bridge tied between two trees. They demonstrate an excellent understanding of safety and readily remind each other of the forest school safety rules, saying, 'Only climb trees with branches thicker than your arms and be careful.' Staff offer excellent encouragement and support and discreetly supervise very close by.
Staff promote children's love of reading. Stories, such as 'The Gruffalo', are brought to life during both focused story time and during their time in the woods. Children are highly engaged as they listen intently, recall details and actively participate when staff pause to explore what happens next in the story.
