What it is like to attend
Staff have created an environment which is welcoming for children and their families. As children arrive, they choose from a wide range of activities. They chatter happily with staff with whom they build strong relationships with. Staff gather information about children's likes and interests and plan activities around these. This helps children to settle and feel safe and secure.
The curriculum is well designed to consider children's current interests as well as their individual stages of development. Children show high levels of engagement at their chosen tasks and are curious and keen to try new experiences. Staff are good role models and provide children with plenty of positive praise. This helps to raise children's self-esteem and confidence. As a result, children behave well and show they know what is expected of them.
Staff have high expectations of children. They encourage them to be independent with self-care tasks, such as handwashing and wiping their own noses. This helps children develop their confidence and an understanding of their personal needs.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- support staff to more consistently encourage children to problem solve for themselves and further extend their learning n plan more precisely for individual children's next steps to enable them to make the progress they are capable of.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
