Funded hours
15 or 30 hours a week; 30 hours funded childcare support from the term after your child turns 9 months old; 15 hour entitlement for all 3 and 4 year olds; 15 hours early learning for 2 year olds.
Worth knowing. Consumables are chargeable for children who receive the 30 hours childcare support from the government. Consumables are nappies and meals. However you can opt out of this by providing your child’s nappies, wipes etc and/or food for the day. Funding will be spread over the full year giving families 11 or 22 funded hours per week. To remain sustainable we are unable to be flexible with hours if they fall out of our specified sessions, e.g. 3pm finish would be classed as a full day, not an addition.

What it is like to attend
The friendly and nurturing staff greet children with care when they arrive at the homely nursery. They engage in meaningful conversations with children and their families about their routines and experiences away from nursery to ensure they fully meet their needs. Staff use the information they find out about children extremely well to plan a vast range of motivating activities that reflect their individual interests, entice them and build on their development. Because of this, children settle with complete ease and demonstrate that they feel comfortable and safe in the clean and well-thought-out environment. They form extremely close relationships with staff, who support them to build friendships with their peers from a young age.
Staff share high expectations for all children and deliver an ambitious curriculum that supports them to acquire essential lifelong skills. As a result, all children make good progress from their starting points and are well-prepared for the transition to school. Staff carefully consider what children need to learn. For example, they teach pre-school children about the life cycle of a butterfly as they investigate caterpillars. Children are highly curious and understand the caterpillars will make a
'cocoon'. Staff introduce and model key vocabulary to test children's understanding.

What to ask them

- Is £45.15 a session still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
