Funded hours
15 or 30 hours.
Worth knowing. We stretch our grants over 51 weeks a year (15 or 30 hours is for 38 weeks only) to provide 11 or 22 hours per week. We do shut for one week at Christmas. Our grant hours our supplied at zero cost to parents. For parents accessing 30 hour funding only we do ask for a voluntary contribution of £1 for morning sessions,£3 for lunch and £1.00 for afternoon sessions. This is completely voluntary and covers the cost of meals that grants do not cover. Children will receive meals without a contribution,.
What childcare usually costs in North Northamptonshire
This is not this setting's price. It is the median hourly fee across all providers in North Northamptonshire from the Department for Education's 2025 provider survey. No national data holds what an individual nursery charges, so ring and ask.

What it is like to attend
Children arrive at the nursery ready to learn. They happily leave their parents and carers at the gate and quickly settle, with the support of the warm and professional staff. When children need reassurance, staff are vigilant and respond quickly. They offer reassurance through cuddles and smiles, and children respond with affection.
All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities
(SEND), and their families, are very well supported. Children form strong attachments with their key person as well as other staff in the setting. This helps them to feel safe and secure in their environment.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen staff practice to ensure that all children consistently receive highquality interactions at all times n build on the good partnerships with parents to ensure that all parents are aware of their children's current learning needs and how they can fully support their children's learning at home.

Still missing for Playmates Childrens Day Nursery
- Nappies
- Waiting list
No dataset holds any of this. Two parents telling us the same thing puts it on the page for whoever looks next.
What to ask them
Some of this is above, from the setting or from parents, and it can go out of date. The rest is in no dataset anywhere. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone.
- Is £57.40 a day still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
