What it is like to attend
Children and babies enter happily and settle quickly to play with a wide range of interesting resources. Kindly staff greet children warmly. Staff focus on ways to enable all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), to develop their independence skills. Staff help children to become confident, independent learners, ready for the next stage of their learning.
This aim is at the heart of the centre's curriculum. Staff ensure older children hang up their coats and bags next to their names and place their lunch boxes on a trolley. At snack time, they ask children to pour their milk and serve themselves fruit. Staff gently encourage babies to keep trying as they pull themselves up on low level furniture to a standing position. Photos of children and their families are displayed at a low level so that children can talk with staff about these and feel valued.
The caring staff are positive role models. Children know what is expected of them.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- enhance information sharing further with parents to help them better understand what their children are learning and how to support this fully at home n support staff to plan group activities that provide greater challenge for older children, to extend their thinking and learning further.

What to ask them
None of this is in any national dataset and this setting has not published it, which is exactly why it is worth asking.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
