Funded hours
Some children aged 9 months+ are entitled to 15 hours early education and childcare per week during school term time for 38 weeks per year, dependent on income and if parents are in receipt of certain benefits from the Government. Some 2 year olds and all 3-4 year olds in the UK receive 15 hours early education and childcare per week during school term time for 38 weeks per year from the Governmen.
Worth knowing. Please note as a nursery we operate 52 weeks of the year and therefore do not offer term time only places to funded children.

What it is like to attend
Children are happy, settled and safe in the nursery. They build warm, close relationships with staff. Where children are new and need support to settle, staff are on hand to provide cuddles and reassurance. This helps to develop children's confidence and self-esteem. Children engage in a wide variety of interesting and exciting activities. They relish the opportunity to investigate sensory activities.
Older children mix mud, stones and sand in the outdoor area. They confidently discuss that they are making 'apple pie'. Babies enjoy investigating foam and shredded paper. They giggle as they watch the paper fall onto the floor.
Children have many opportunities to develop their large-muscle skills. Older children ride on scooters and balance bikes around the well-resourced garden.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- help staff to develop a clearer understanding of the skills and knowledge they want children to gain, to further extend their learning n strengthen the partnerships with other providers so that children's care and learning are fully supported.

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
