Funded hours
Government funding (for up to 15 hours childcare) commences the term after your child turns three years old and is claimed directly by us at Playgroup. An extra 15 hours (extended funding) can be claimed by eligible working parents. We accept Early Years Funding for 2 year olds meeting the necessary criteria.
Worth knowing. Additional hours above the Universal 15 hours are charged at £5.20 per hour (3-4 year olds). A voluntary 50p per day snack fee is invoiced monthly.

What it is like to attend
Children happily arrive and settle quickly at the pre-school. They have positive relationships with staff and clearly have attachments with their key workers.
Younger children benefit from being in a smaller group with familiar adults. Staff are nurturing and caring and prioritise children's well-being, which helps children to feel safe and secure.
Staff plan their curriculum based on children's interests. Children have access to both indoor and outdoor environments, including a wild nature learning area.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- explore ways to provide sufficient challenge to children, particularly during spontaneous free play, to build on what children already know and can do n monitor even more closely the impact of staff's professional development, to raise the overall quality further.

- Is £5.50 an hour still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
