What it is like to attend
Children arrive excited and ready to learn at this setting. Staff greet children warmly at the door. They communicate with parents and carers about what children have been doing outside of the setting. Children separate from their parents with ease and enthusiastically join in with the activities that are provided.
When children first join this setting, staff adapt the settling-in sessions to suit each child's needs. Staff use these sessions to begin to create relationships with children and their families.
All staff know children well. Children are happy to approach staff when they need support. Leaders plan a curriculum that ensures that children are ready for the next stage in their education. They plan a learning focus for each room, and each child has a next step relevant to their current skills.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- ensure that questioning during younger children's play gives them the time to think and then respond n strengthen the key-person system, so staff and parents are aware of who a child's key person is and what their next steps in development are to support children's learning.

- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
