What it is like to attend
Children arrive happily and are ready to play and learn. Staff welcome families warmly and invite parents into the rooms to hand over. Staff build excellent rapport with parents and children. They spend time getting to know children well so that they settle easily. Staff observe children and identify their interests and next steps in learning.
Older children start the day in group time. They greet each other saying, 'good morning' or 'bonjour.' Staff are interested and interactions are authentic. Staff ask real questions and encourage children to think and explore language. For example, children eagerly explain why they like Fridays.
Children develop a love of reading and stories. Staff read and children practise making the sound of the train. Staff sit among children so that they feel safe and have a sense of belonging. Staff sing gleefully with babies. Children take it in turns to choose a song from the bag and enthusiastically copy actions and sounds.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- review the organisation of planned group activities so that children can understand, focus and achieve with fewer distractions n provide more opportunities for children to develop their independence and selfcare skills, such as wiping noses.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
