What it is like to attend
Children are eager to come into this caring nursery and arrive ready to play. Staff support children to build their confidence and knowledge of the world around them. For instance, children learn to perform in front of others in small concerts at
Christmas and while singing in the local residential home. They learn how to do things for themselves, such as pouring their own drinks and serving foods.
Children are confident and resilient learners. For example, they ask staff if they can pick the runner beans they have been growing. Children keep twisting the beans to take them off the plant, laughing when it is hard to do. They build a strong sense of self and their place in the local community they live in. Leaders and staff have high expectations for all children. The curriculum is well designed to progressively build on what children know and can do.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- ensure that staff consistently use the communication strategies in place to further support children to share their needs and feelings n develop the organisation of mealtimes and transition times to make sure that children are not waiting for long periods of time and are engaged in purposeful learning.
