What it is like to attend
Staff offer children a warm welcome at this setting. Children are eager to enter and start their day. Staff have a good knowledge of children's care and learning needs and adapt activities and the environment to support their needs. They help new children to settle by taking their hand and showing them where to hang their coat and how to access resources. Children invite adults into their play and enjoy the interactions they have. For example, children invite staff to run races with them and cheer loudly as they identify themselves as the winner. Interactions are warm and nurturing. Children demonstrate that they feel happy and secure.
Staff are positive role models and have high expectations for all children. They offer consistent praise and encourage children to keep trying as they master new skills.
For example, children attempt to fasten their own coat. This helps children to build their confidence and resilience. Children listen carefully to staff, share resources and consider the needs of others. Staff talk to children to support them through changes, such as a new baby in the house. This helps children to understand their feelings and emotions. Children's behaviour is good.
