What it is like to attend
Staff prioritise children's emotional well-being. They respond quickly and sensitively to their needs, offering reassurance and guidance to help them understand and manage their feelings. Children form close bonds with familiar staff in their nursery
'key families' and show a secure sense of belonging in their care. They grow in confidence and are happy in nursery. Leaders actively look for ways to extend support for families beyond the nursery walls. They have introduced projects such as food and clothing sharing schemes to help meet the wider needs of families and reduce barriers to well-being.
The curriculum has a clear impact across all areas of development. It is centred on children's interests and shaped by staff who know them very well. This motivates children and, overall, they are very keen to play and learn. Staff weave new skills and knowledge into play, with purposeful enhancements indoors and out, including sensory spaces and collections of curious objects for children to explore. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities make strong progress, which is supported well by tailored teaching and partnerships with outside agencies. Speech and language is a particular strength, with focused professional development that contributes to staff's confidence in teaching this area. Staff support learning successfully and celebrate the ongoing progress that all children make.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- support staff to embed clear and consistent expectations that help children to feel even more secure, confident and ready to learn n give children plenty of time and opportunities to try things for themselves and build further on their independence and problem-solving skills.

What to ask them
None of this is in any national dataset and this setting has not published it, which is exactly why it is worth asking.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
