What it is like to attend
Children come in happily and are warmly greeted by staff. They help children feel safe and secure within the provision. For example, staff use visual timetables to ensure that everyone understands the routine of the day. There are strong attachments between children and staff. They know their children very well and are able to plan activities that build on children's learning through their interests.
Children behave well. They know and understand the boundaries of the provision.
They are keen to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings with staff who actively listen and encourage children to develop their ideas further. Children confidently select the resources they would like to play with. They engage well with their peers and enjoy including others in their play.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen further staff's understanding of the curriculum aims and intentions for children's learning n enhance the strategies used by staff to allow children sufficient time to respond to questions.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
