Funded hours
The government is offering funding for working parents for children 9 months + to 3 years old (depending on their birth month and parents’ return to work date) for up to 15 hours per week (increasing to 30 hours from September 2025). All children that are 3 or 4 years old will be offered the universal 15 hours and for working parents the extended 30 hours. Some disadvantaged 2 year olds will be of.
Worth knowing. The funding is paid for term time only (38 weeks a year). ... there is an optional charge for meals, snacks and consumables (additional services). Please ask what these current costs are. If parents choose not to pay these costs they will be given a comprehensive list of what needs providing daily for your child.

What it is like to attend
Children are well cared for by staff, who know them well. Children are happy, settled and secure. They form close bonds with staff, who are caring and kind.
Settling-in sessions for new children and parents are flexible to meet their individual needs. Staff work closely with parents to tailor settling-in visits to meet the different emotional needs of children. Staff find out information about children as soon as possible, including what they like and dislike.
Staff share the vision for promoting children's knowledge through high quality experiences. They plan activities which extend children's knowledge and skills. For example, staff teach younger children to count animals in the water. Older children learn mathematical language, as staff encourage them to add 'one more' as they play dominoes. Toddlers giggle as they experiment with torches and make shadows.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen how more challenging aspects of children's behaviour are managed and help children to develop a deeper understanding of how to act and behave.
- extend the information sharing with parents further so that all parents know their child's individual next steps and can support their learning at home.

What to ask them
Some of this is above, from the setting or from parents, and it can go out of date. The rest is in no dataset anywhere. Either way it is worth ten minutes on the phone.
- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
