What it is like to attend
On arrival, children rush into the nursery, excited to see friends and find activities to play with. They feel safe and secure. Staff build strong connections, and children often invite them to play in their games. Staff understand early years education and how children learn.
Staff support children to listen to music often, both indoors and outdoors, learning about songs, tone and rhythm. Staff play soothing music to help babies feel calm.
Outdoors, pre-school children listen to staff play guitar songs. They dance and learn to move their bodies to music, improving coordination. The nursery has outdoor areas for different age groups, plus a large shared outdoor space, where children of all ages mix during the day. Siblings spend time together, and older children enjoy interacting with babies. This supports them to develop social skills.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- strengthen the organisation of outdoor activities even more to enable children to fully participate in learning n engage younger children in conversations that support and encourage them to explore their ideas and interests even further, to benefit their communication skills.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
