Funded hours
Eligible children from the term after they are 9 months old can access up to 30 hours of funding. All children from the term following their third birthday are entitled to 15 universal funded hours, with an additional 15 extended funded hours for those eligible.
Worth knowing. Funding covers 38 weeks a year; as the nursery does not offer term time only places, funding is stretched over 12 months (50 weeks), equating to approximately 22.8 hours a week for full entitlement and 11.4 hours for 15 universal hours. An additional services charge applies to funded days for food and consumables, though it is not mandatory and children can have a completely free place if required.

What it is like to attend
Staff welcome children warmly into this friendly nursery. They build good relationships with them and recognise when they need additional support. Children seek staff out for a reassuring cuddle if they are upset or unsure in unfamiliar situations. As a result, children are happy and demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in their care. Children behave well. Staff model good behaviours and teach children the importance of being kind, taking turns and sharing with their friends.
They have introduced 'Golden rules' which run through the nursery and are appropriate for each child's age and stage of development.
Staff plan activities based on children's interests. Children are eager to take part in a wide range of activities and can concentrate for periods of time. Older children develop a variety of skills as they eagerly take part in a baking session to make cupcakes. They weigh the ingredients and can recognise the numbers on the scales. They patiently wait until it is their turn to stir the mixture and know that they have to put the eggshells in the bin and not in the bowl. Younger children explore coloured rice and scoop and pour it into different size containers. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress from their starting points.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- provide the managers with time to monitor staff more precisely, to ensure that their expectations for the curriculum are implemented fully into practice n organise sleep and care routines more effectively so that children's good health and hygiene are consistently supported throughout the day.

- Is £85.00 a day still the rate? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
