What it is like to attend
Children show trust in the familiar staff and are at ease and happy in their care. For example, babies snuggle up close while enjoying their milk, comforted by staff's gentle care and attention. Older children show great confidence. For example, when they approach the inspector, they ask what she is doing and tell her all about what they like to do in nursery. Staff model kindness, courtesy and respect.
Children behave very well, overall, and learn to consider the needs of others. They develop friendships and are keen to help adults. For example, two children enjoy the responsibility of carrying trays ready for an activity.
The curriculum is ambitious and helps all children to learn more. Staff have clear and high expectations for children at each stage in their early education, and these increase as they move up through the nursery rooms. Staff prioritise skills and attitudes that will prepare children for later life and learning. For example, they encourage them to be independent, curious and to develop positive relationships with others. Staff provide core activities that support children's overall development well. They then consider ways to extend children's learning based on what they learn about each child from their accurate assessments. This, generally, helps to ensure that the curriculum supports each child appropriately to make the progress that they are capable of. The nursery's inclusive approach helps to ensure that all children access meaningful learning experiences and build on what they know and can do.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- provide more precise guidance and modelling to help children to master new skills more quickly n pace activities effectively so that children have sufficient time to learn and practise new skills n provide clear and consistent expectations, particularly during transitions, to help children remain engaged and settled throughout the day.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- How do you apply my funded hours? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
