What it is like to attend
Children happily arrive at the nursery, keen to start their day. They confidently separate from their parents, demonstrating they feel safe and secure in the environment. Caring and nurturing staff know the children and their families well.
They build close bonds and attachments with their key children and, subsequently, children feel emotionally safe and are eager to learn. Children are happy, confident and settled.
The curriculum is designed to support children's interests and builds on what they know and can do. Staff follow plans that clearly identify the knowledge children will learn and in what order. Staff focus on what they know about children to create a variety of activities and experiences, both inside and outside. For example, during a forest school session children are using sticks to build as they follow their interest in construction. Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who speak English as an additional language, make good progress.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- support staff to strengthen their teaching strategies to consistently challenge and extend children's learning n strengthen teaching further to ensure that children of all ages receive consistent, high-quality interactions to support their developing communication and language skills n improve staff deployment to help staff make the most of all opportunities to build on children's learning.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Do you have a place for a child of my age now? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
