What it is like to attend
Children arrive at the nursery happy and eager to start their day. Staff create a calm, welcoming environment that helps children feel safe and secure. Wellorganised and resourced spaces encourage children to explore, play and learn across all areas of the early years foundation stage.
Leaders have designed a curriculum that is ambitious for all children. It is well sequenced and builds on what children already know and can do. Staff use their knowledge of each child's development to plan meaningful activities that support progress. These activities are tailored to children's interests and developmental stages, helping them to stay engaged and motivated.
Children form strong, positive relationships with staff, which help them feel safe, secure and ready to learn. In the baby room, staff are warm and attentive. They respond quickly when babies need comfort or support. In the toddler room, children enjoy being with familiar adults. They confidently join in with activities such as stories and messy play, knowing staff are nearby to guide them. In the pre-school room, children talk openly with staff and know they will be listened to.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
