What it is like to attend
Staff provide a happy, welcoming environment for children, building lovely relationships with them and their families from the start. Staff are gentle with babies and meet their individual needs and routines effectively. Leaders provide good support for their enthusiastic team members. There is high staff retention, which provides stability for children and long-term relationships for families.
Children are emotionally secure and approach staff knowing they will receive a positive response, so that by pre-school they are confident to initiate conversations.
There is an ambitious curriculum for all children. Staff plan an exciting environment, promoting children's curiosity and exploration. There are plenty of opportunities for those who prefer outdoor learning. For example, older children make paper aeroplanes and notice the impact the wind has when they fly them. In addition, children develop their large-muscle skills and gain a good awareness of keeping themselves and others safe.
What Ofsted told them to improve
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should:
- focus staff development on embedding the curriculum intent consistently to know when to challenge older children more, to enable them to make even greater progress.

What to ask them

- What does it cost, all in? What is on top: meals, nappies, late pick-up, and what happens if you are late.
- Can I use my funded hours here? Whether they stretch them over the year, and the minimum days you have to book.
- Is there a place for my child's age? Baby rooms fill first and waiting lists are common.
- Who would my child's key person be? And how long have the staff been there. No dataset holds this and it matters more than anything above.
- Can I visit at a busy time? Mid-morning on a weekday tells you far more than an empty room after hours.
